Sign in with Google

Goal

On the Log in and Create an account pages, the Continue with Google button saves you one more password. The email form is always available below it.

Steps

1. Open Log in (or Create an account) and click Continue with Google.
2. Google's page opens: choose your Google account, then agree to share your name and email address with Etkivent.
3. You come back to Etkivent, signed in. The first time, choose your role (event planner), then set up your space, just like when signing up with an email.
4. Next times, the same button takes you straight to your space.
5. To manage your sign-in methods, open Profile, Sign-in methods card: it lists email and password and Google, with the date it was linked.
6. Link adds Google to an account created by email (same email address); Unlink removes it, after confirmation. Your last sign-in method can never be unlinked.
7. An account created with Google has no password: Set a password creates one. Its username comes from your email (the part before the @, followed by a number if it's already taken); Edit lets you pick another one.

Frequently asked questions

I already have an account with my email: will I end up with two? No. Google guarantees your address: signing in joins your existing account with the same address.

I cancelled on Google's page. Nothing was shared or created. The "Sign-in cancelled" message appears: try again, or use your email.

In the installed app (iPhone), sign-in opens in Safari. That's expected: Google's page opens in the browser. Once signed in, go back to the app; if it asks you to sign in again, click Continue with Google once more.

What do I accept by continuing with Google? As with signing up by email, the terms of use and the privacy policy, recalled under the button of the Create an account page.

I forgot my password, but I usually sign in with Google. "Forgot password" works too: the link you receive lets you choose a password, which is added to your Google sign-in.

What does Etkivent receive from Google? Your name, your email address, your picture if you have one and the identifier of your Google account — nothing else. Etkivent never posts anything on your behalf. The details are in the privacy policy.

My account has no password: can I delete it? Yes, from Profile > My account, within 10 minutes of signing in with Google.

What's my username if I signed up with Google? The part of your email before the @: marie.dupont@gmail.com becomes marie.dupont (or marie.dupont2 if that name is already taken). It lets you sign in without your email; change it from Profile, Sign-in methods card.
